Where Does the ClickUp Desktop App Store Its Data?

ClickUp desktop data folders on Windows and macOS, the cache worth clearing, and why work itself is never local.

Last updated

The ClickUp desktop app follows Electron conventions, keeping sessions, settings and cache in the platform userData folder under its own name. Docs, tasks and dashboards live in ClickUp cloud; the local folder is session state plus working cache.

That split decides what is safe to touch. Clearing the folder with the app closed fixes most white screen and login loop issues, and everything re-syncs on next sign in. Offline drafts that never synced are the one thing at risk, so let the app finish syncing first.

Where ClickUp stores this, by platform

Windows
%appdata%\ClickUp

Sessions, settings and cache in one tree. Deleting it with the app closed forces a clean login, which resolves most stuck states. Work re-syncs from the cloud.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/ClickUp

Same role as Windows. Use Go to Folder in Finder, and quit ClickUp fully before clearing or copying anything.

Frequently asked questions

ClickUp desktop shows a blank screen. What do I delete?

Quit the app and delete the ClickUp userData folder, then sign in again. The blank screen is almost always a corrupted local cache, and a clean re-sync fixes it in minutes.

Will clearing the ClickUp folder delete my tasks?

No. Tasks and docs live in ClickUp cloud and return on next login. Only local sessions and cache go away, so this is a safe first step for most desktop glitches.
