Where Are Dave the Diver Save Files Located?

Where Dave the Diver keeps saves under a nexon folder on PC and Mac, and the Steam ID trap in restores.

Last updated

Dave the Diver saves in a nexon folder under AppData\LocalLow, inside DAVE THE DIVER and then a SteamSData folder named after your numeric Steam ID. The publisher folder name surprises everyone hunting for the developer Mintrocket: on disk, it is nexon all the way down.

Restores trip on the ID folder. Saves copied from another account land in the wrong numbered folder and silently fail to appear, which reads as corruption. Match the destination ID folder on the new machine (run the game once so it exists) and copy into that.

Where Dave the Diver stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\nexon\DAVE THE DIVER\SteamSData\[SteamID]

Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\nexon\DAVE THE DIVER into Explorer. Back up the SteamSData ID folder with the game closed. Files without m_ are autosaves; m_ files are manual saves.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/nexon/DAVE THE DIVER/SData

Two variants exist depending on build age (nexon vs com.nexon.dave). Check both with Go > Go to Folder in Finder. Copy the SData contents, not the wrapper, when migrating.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1868140/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/nexon/DAVE THE DIVER

Proton path for app ID 1868140. The Steam root varies, so search under compatdata/1868140 for the nexon folder. Steam Deck users: enable hidden files in Dolphin first.

Frequently asked questions

My old Dave the Diver saves do not load on a new PC. How do I fix it?

Disable Steam Cloud first, then copy the old files into the new Steam ID folder. Launch, load the save from the menu, save in game once, and only then re enable Cloud so it uploads the restored files instead of overwriting them.

What is the difference between m_ files and plain files?

Files without the m_ prefix are autosaves; m_ files are manual saves from sushi bar phones and beds. The game loads either, but manual saves are the ones to keep when pruning, since autosaves rotate.
