Where Does Deezer Store Offline Music and Smart Cache?
Deezer keeps offline tracks and Smart Cache in encrypted app storage, with SD card choice on Android.
Last updated
Deezer offline content lives inside the app in encrypted storage. Library downloads go there from the Favorites sections. Smart Cache sits in the same app space and holds recently streamed tracks plus the next ones, rotating as it fills.
Only Premium tiers can download. The website cannot save offline. On Android with an SD card, move storage in settings to stretch space. Logging out or clearing data wipes both downloads and cache.
Where Deezer stores this, by platform
Encrypted app storage (desktop offline)
Premium desktop downloads play only in Deezer. No portable files. Reinstalls need redownload from Library sections after login.
Encrypted app storage (desktop offline)
Same model as Windows. Manage from Library download toggles. Cache size follows quality settings, so HiFi uses markedly more disk.
Private app storage, optional SD card
Set storage location and Smart Cache slider under Settings, then Data and storage. Copying cache folders out yields no playable files.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy Deezer offline files elsewhere?
No. They are encrypted for the Deezer app and account. Use offline mode inside Deezer for travel. Buy tracks separately if you need files for other players.
What is Deezer Smart Cache?
A rolling buffer of streamed tracks that keeps music playing through dead zones. Resize it in Data and storage settings. Full cache evicts oldest tracks first automatically.
