Where Does DS4Windows Store Profiles?
Where DS4Windows keeps controller profiles, auto profiles and settings on Windows.
Last updated
DS4Windows asks at first launch where user data should live: the AppData folder (recommended) or its own program folder (portable). Everything follows that one choice. Profiles land in a Profiles subfolder next to Profiles.xml, with auto profile rules and controller configs beside them.
The Settings tab has a Profile Folder shortcut that opens the live location directly. Use that instead of guessing, since installs often leave stale copies in the other spot after a reinstall or a move.
Where DS4Windows stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\DS4Windows\
Holds Profiles.xml, Auto Profiles.xml, ControllerConfigs.xml, LinkedProfiles.xml, Actions.xml, OutputSlots.xml and the Profiles subfolder. Portable installs use the DS4Windows.exe folder instead. The folder containing Profiles.xml is the one the app actually loads.
Frequently asked questions
My profiles are in two places. Which one is live?
Open Settings in DS4Windows and click Profile Folder. The live location is whichever folder holds Profiles.xml. If both the program folder and AppData have data, that file decides and the app will ask which to keep.
How do I move my DS4Windows setup to a new PC?
Copy Profiles.xml plus the Profiles folder and the other root XML files (Auto Profiles.xml, ControllerConfigs.xml, LinkedProfiles.xml, Actions.xml, OutputSlots.xml) to the same spot on the new PC, then restart DS4Windows.
