Where Do Google Meet Recordings Go?

Where Meet recordings land in Google Drive, who receives the email link, and how transcripts and attendance reports differ.

Last updated

Google Meet stores recordings in Google Drive, not on any participant computer. Files land in a Meet Recordings folder owned by the meeting organizer, with a share link emailed to them after processing. Guests see the link in chat only when the organizer shares it.

Transcripts and attendance reports save as separate Docs and Sheets beside the video. Recording needs an eligible Workspace edition plus Drive space. If the video is missing, check the organizer Drive and spam filters before assuming the recording failed.

Where Google Meet stores this, by platform

Windows
Google Drive/Meet Recordings

Organizer owned folder in Drive. The recording email arrives after processing, which can take a while for long calls. Check Drive storage quotas first.

macOS
Google Drive/Meet Recordings

Same cloud location on every OS since nothing saves locally. Transcripts land in Drive as Docs with timestamps linked to the video.

Frequently asked questions

I recorded a Meet but cannot find the file?

Only the organizer Drive receives it. Ask the organizer to check Meet Recordings and reshare. Processing delays plus full Drive quotas cause most apparent losses.

Where are Meet transcripts and attendance?

Beside the recording in Drive as Docs and Sheets when enabled before or during the call. They do not generate retroactively for old recordings.
