Where Does Homer Store config.yml?

Where the Homer dashboard keeps config.yml, icons and assets.

Last updated

Homer is fully static: one assets directory with config.yml for services plus icons and logos beside it, mounted at /www/assets in Docker. No database exists to back up.

INIT_ASSETS seeds a starter config on writable mounts. Tar the assets folder for backups; that archive restores any Homer anywhere. Validate YAML after edits since one indent error blanks the page.

Where Homer stores this, by platform

Linux
<homer assets>/config.yml

Assets mount with config.yml, icons and logos. The container is stateless; the folder is the whole backup. Fix UID 1000 ownership when the sample config fails to install.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Homer to a new server?

Copy the assets directory (config.yml plus icons and logos) to the new /www/assets mount. The container holds zero state, so the folder is the entire migration.

Homer shows a blank page in Docker. Why?

Check mount ownership for UID 1000 and the INIT_ASSETS flag. Read-only or wrongly owned mounts block the sample config install, leaving a blank dashboard with log complaints.
