Where Does KineMaster Save Projects and Videos?

KineMaster keeps edits in app storage with .kine backups, while finished videos export to Downloads or Files.

Last updated

KineMaster edits live in app storage. The timeline references clips on your phone, so moving or renaming source video breaks the project with missing media icons. Keep source files put until export finishes. This bites hardest on long projects with many imports.

Two outputs matter. Finished videos export to Downloads on Android or Files then KineMaster on iOS. Portable backups use Export as .kine file saved outside the KineMaster folder. Premium adds KineCloud backup for moving between devices, plus Mix templates for sharing.

Where KineMaster stores this, by platform

Android
App-private projects (exports to Internal Storage/Downloads)

Save .kine backups to a folder outside KineMaster so reinstalls do not clear them. Produced MP4s land in Downloads or Gallery depending on share choice.

iOS
App-private projects (exports to Files > KineMaster)

Use Create screen, tap the dots on a project, then Export as .kine file and pick On My iPhone outside the KineMaster folder. Finished videos share to Photos, Files, or social apps.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up a KineMaster project for another device?

Export it as a .kine file to Downloads, Drive, or Files outside the app folder. Move that file plus its source clips to the new device, then import the .kine. Cloud backup needs Premium KineCloud storage.

Why do clips show as missing in KineMaster?

The source was moved, renamed, or deleted after import. Tap the gap and relink to the new location. Store project media in one stable folder before starting a long edit.
