Where Does PowerDirector Save Projects?
PowerDirector saves .pds project files where you choose, with produced videos exported to folders or cloud libraries.
Last updated
PowerDirector projects (.pds) go where you save them from File > Save. The app does not force a projects folder. Keep the .pds next to its source clips or in a per video folder so relinking stays simple when drives change.
Finished videos are separate. The Produce room writes MP4, MKV, or WMV to the folder you pick. Mobile builds export to Gallery or cloud storage. Shadow preview files and temp caches can pile up fast on long timelines, so clear them in Preferences then General.
Where PowerDirector stores this, by platform
User-chosen folder (.pds files); exports are user-chosen
Default library often starts in Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector, but exact path may vary by version. Check Preferences if this does not match. Back up source media with the .pds.
App-private projects (exports to Gallery or Downloads)
In progress edits stay in app storage. Produced videos land in Gallery, Movies, or Downloads depending on share choice. Cloud backup needs a CyberLink account with storage quota.
Frequently asked questions
Why does PowerDirector say media is missing on reopen?
The .pds references clips by path. Moved or renamed source files break the link. Re link them in the Media Room, then keep source folders stable. Store the .pds beside its footage to reduce this.
How do I free space used by PowerDirector temp files?
Delete shadow files in Preferences and General, then empty the Windows Temp folder. Produced videos are the other large consumer, so archive finished exports to an external drive.
