Where Does LumaFusion Store Projects and Media?
LumaFusion keeps imported media and project backups in its Files folder on iOS, with exports to Photos or cloud storage.
Last updated
LumaFusion keeps its working files inside its own Files folder. Imported clips land in UserMedia. Automatic project backups (timeline data only, no video) sit in Project Backups. The app itself stays small. The media inside it does not.
Exports go elsewhere. Share a finished movie to Photos, Files, or cloud storage. For archiving, use Export then LumaFusion Project Package (.lfpackage). That bundle holds timeline plus media and restores on another device.
Where LumaFusion stores this, by platform
Files > On My iPad > LumaFusion
UserMedia holds imported clips. Project Backups holds auto backups. Link external drives or cloud folders from inside the Library instead of copying everything twice.
App-private storage (exports are user-chosen)
Project format matches iOS, so .lfpackage files move between platforms. Finished videos export to Gallery, Downloads, or cloud storage. Clear unused cached media in Help and Settings to reclaim space.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up a LumaFusion project with all media?
Use Export and choose LumaFusion Project Package to make a .lfpackage file, then save it to an external drive or cloud storage. Plain project backups in Files hold timeline data only.
Why is LumaFusion still huge after I deleted clips?
iOS may hold the freed space as System Data for a while. Restart the device to release it. Inside the app, run Cleanup Unused Cached Media so orphaned downloads do not linger.
