Where Does Live for Speed Store Setups and Config?
Live for Speed is portable: setups, config and replays live inside whatever folder you installed it to.
Last updated
Live for Speed keeps everything inside its own install folder, wherever you put it at setup. Car setups live in data\setups, and every option including telemetry output lives in cfg.txt at the install root. There is no AppData folder and no registry state to hunt down.
That portability is the whole backup story. Copy the folder and the game moves with all its settings intact. The only files that live elsewhere are setups you download from LFS World, and those land in data\setups the moment you save them from the site.
Where Live for Speed stores this, by platform
<LFS install folder>\data\setups
Portable install: setups in data\setups, all settings in cfg.txt at the root. Back up by copying the whole folder. Works the same under Wine, with paths relative to the install, not the system.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up Live for Speed before reinstalling Windows?
Copy the entire LFS folder. There is no registry state and no AppData to chase, so the copy is the backup. Your license unlock travels inside it too.
Do saves move when I upgrade from demo to a full license?
Yes. The free demo and the licensed game share one install, so unlocking just enables more cars and tracks inside the same folder. Nothing moves.
