Where Does Neutron Music Player Store Library and Settings?

Neutron keeps its library database in private storage, with music in your folders and settings exportable in app.

Last updated

Neutron scans music from internal storage, SD, or network shares but stores its own library, ratings, and playlists in a private database. That database is not browsable on modern Android. Your audio files stay exactly where you put them.

For migration use the official route. The FAQ documents settings backup and restore plus copying profiles between devices. Export playlists from playlist properties. Keep those exports with your music backup for a clean rebuild.

Ratings, play counts, and internal playlists. No root means no direct copy. Use in-app backup and playlist export instead of file managers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Neutron settings?

Follow the backup and restore entries in Neutron settings and FAQ, then store the export off device. Copy profiles the same documented way when moving between phone and DAP.

Where is a playlist I made in Neutron?

Inside its database until you export it. Use playlist properties export to write M3U or similar. Save those files beside your music so other players can read them.
