Where Does OnlyOffice Store Settings and Data?
OnlyOffice user data and plugins on every OS, and why reinstalling alone never resets it.
Last updated
OnlyOffice keeps user data per OS: %LOCALAPPDATA%\ONLYOFFICE\DesktopEditors on Windows, ~/.config/onlyoffice plus ~/.local/share/onlyoffice on Linux, with Mac plugin docs pointing under asc.onlyoffice application support. Plugins live in sdkjs-plugins subfolders keyed by GUID; cloud keys sit in cloud_crypto.xml.
Reset means deleting folders, not reinstalling: prefs survive reinstalls untouched. Delete both Linux roots for full reset (config only for prefs), the Windows DesktopEditors tree per the install guide, and never the bundled Mac plugins (removing those crashes the app). Templates ship with the program (Program Files, /opt) and set new document defaults.
Where OnlyOffice stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ONLYOFFICE\DesktopEditors\
User data, recents, window state; per user plugins in data\sdkjs-plugins. Delete this tree for full reset (reinstall alone keeps it). Program files and default templates in %ProgramFiles%\ONLYOFFICE.
~/.config/onlyoffice/
Preferences (delete for prefs only). Data plus user plugins in ~/.local/share/onlyoffice (desktopeditors/sdkjs-plugins, cloud_crypto.xml). Cache in ~/.cache/onlyoffice. Snap/Flatpak/AppImage roots differ.
~/Library/Application Support/asc.onlyoffice.ONLYOFFICE/
User plugins in data/sdkjs-plugins (GUID folders). Do not remove bundled plugins from the app package. Exact user data root beyond plugins is less documented; may vary.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fully reset OnlyOffice?
Delete the user data folders above for your OS, then launch. Reinstalling without deleting changes nothing since prefs live outside the program files.
Where do OnlyOffice plugins live?
sdkjs-plugins under the per OS data root, one GUID folder per plugin. Drop custom plugins there; leave bundled ones (especially on Mac) exactly where they are.
