Where Does Path of Exile 2 Store Settings on PC?
Path of Exile 2 config file and loot filters on PC and Mac, and the rule about editing while running.
Last updated
Path of Exile 2 stores options in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini: resolution, graphics, UI and keybinds. Loot filters sit alongside in OnlineFilters/ and, unlike most settings, no server syncs them back.
Characters and stash live on Grinding Gear servers instead. Never edit the ini while the game runs: it reads on launch and writes on exit, so live edits get overwritten. Back up OnlineFilters before reinstalls, since filters are the one thing a fresh install cannot pull back.
Where Path of Exile 2 stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini
Resolution, graphics, UI and keybinds (Steam AppID 2694490). Loot filters in the OnlineFilters/ subfolder. Client log at <install>\logs\Client.txt. Characters and stash are server side.
~/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2/poe2_production_Config.ini
Same layout as Windows for the native Mac build (standalone and Steam). Account holds the real progress; local files are settings and filters only. Exact wrapper details may vary by build.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the Path of Exile 2 config while the game is open?
No. The client reads the ini at launch and rewrites it at exit, discarding live edits. Close the game first, edit, then launch to keep your changes.
My loot filters vanished after reinstalling. Where were they?
In OnlineFilters/ next to the config ini. Filters are local files with no server backup, so copy that folder out before reinstalling or patching and drop it back afterwards.
