Where Are Pathogenic Save Files Located?
Pathogenic saves under Godot's shared app_userdata folder, one profile_ directory per slot, with .json saves and .bak copies.
Last updated
Pathogenic is a Godot game, and it saves the way the engine likes to: under %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Pathogenic, not under a studio name. The engine folder is shared with every other Godot title on the machine, so the Pathogenic subfolder is the part that matters.
Each numbered profile_ folder is a separate slot. Inside, save.json holds the current save, run_save.json the active run, and past_runs.json the history, all with .bak copies and an extra .bak2 for the main save. Steam Cloud syncs the folder for App ID 3808690. The same directory also holds .cfg files for settings, so a full copy captures both without extra hunting.
Where Pathogenic stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Pathogenic
One profile_ folder per save slot with save.json, run_save.json, and past_runs.json plus backups. .cfg files in the same folder hold settings. Synced via Steam Cloud.
Frequently asked questions
Where does Pathogenic store saves on PC?
In %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Pathogenic, with one profile_ folder per slot. The Godot folder is shared by other Godot games, so open the Pathogenic subfolder.
Can I restore a Pathogenic save from the .bak files?
Yes. Rename the .bak copy to replace the matching .json file with the game closed. save.json also keeps a .bak2, so you have two older points to fall back on.
What are the .cfg files in the Pathogenic folder?
Settings, not progress. godot_settings_override.cfg and local_settings.cfg hold display and audio options. Copy them only if you want settings to travel with the save.
