Where Does Samsung Good Lock Store Module Data?

How Good Lock and its modules store settings on Galaxy phones, and the only sane way to move them.

Last updated

Good Lock is a hub with around twenty separate module apps, from LockStar to Home Up, and each module keeps its own sandboxed data. There is no single settings file to copy, which is why moving setups between phones feels harder than it should.

Samsung publishes no file map for these sandboxes, so anyone quoting database names is guessing. The supported route is Galaxy's own sharing and backup flow, not a file copy from the data partition.

Hub sandbox; each module (LockStar, NavStar, Home Up and the rest) keeps its own separate sandbox beside it. Root is required to browse any of them. In practice, migrate with Galaxy backup and Good Lock sharing rather than file copies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my Good Lock setup?

Use Samsung's backup and the sharing options inside Good Lock. Per-module sandboxes make manual file backup impractical even with root.

Where are individual module settings kept?

Inside each module's own sandbox under /data/data/. Samsung documents no filenames, so treat the modules as sealed boxes.
