Where Does Scribd Store Offline Documents?

Scribd offline documents live inside the app behind the Saved list's Downloaded toggle, wiped by reinstalls.

Last updated

Scribd stores offline reading inside the app, not as PDFs in a folder. Tap Download on a document page, then find it later under Saved with the Downloaded toggle on. Removing it there deletes the file but keeps the Saved entry for next time.

Offline is a subscription perk with DRM strings. Licenses refresh periodically, so open the app on WiFi before long offline stretches. Deleting or reinstalling the app wipes every download at once, and only four devices can hold downloads simultaneously.

Where Scribd stores this, by platform

Android
In-app: Saved > Downloaded toggle (app-private storage)

Documents, ebooks, and audiobooks in the Everand and Scribd apps. Downloads need an active subscription and periodic license refresh. Reinstalls wipe everything, so keep titles in Saved for one tap re-download.

iOS
In-app: Saved > Downloaded toggle (app-private storage)

Same in-app storage. Offloading the app removes files while Saved entries persist in your account. Web downloads are separate real files in your browser's Downloads folder, not tied to the app.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my Scribd downloads on my phone?

Open the Saved tab and switch on the Downloaded toggle. That filters to files stored on the device. There is no gallery or Files folder copy. If the list is empty, the titles were never downloaded or were wiped by a reinstall.

Why won't my Scribd downloads open on a flight?

The DRM license likely expired without a refresh. Open the app on WiFi before traveling and let it sync so licenses renew. An expired subscription also locks every offline file until you resubscribe.
