Where Is the Synology Drive Sync Folder?
Synology Drive syncs to a folder you choose on Windows, with Mac on demand tasks pinned under Library CloudStorage instead.
Last updated
Synology Drive has no single fixed path. The local folder is chosen when the sync task is created. Many Windows users accept the default under the user profile, often called SynologyDrive. That choice can be changed per task.
Mac on demand sync is the special case. When that mode is on, macOS assigns the CloudStorage path and Finder pins it in the sidebar. Turn on demand off at task creation time if you want a plain folder in your home directory like on Windows.
Where Synology Drive stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\SynologyDrive
Default suggestion for new tasks. Check the exact path in Drive Client under Sync Tasks, since each task can point somewhere else.
~/Library/CloudStorage/SynologyDrive
Fixed macOS path for on demand tasks. The task name appears as a subfolder. Normal non on demand tasks can use any local folder you pick.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change the Synology Drive sync folder?
Open Drive Client, edit the sync task, and pick a new local path. The client moves the pairing. Do not drag the folder in Explorer alone, since that breaks the task link.
Why is my Mac sync folder stuck in CloudStorage?
Yes. Create the task with on demand enabled. Only then does macOS pin it under CloudStorage with placeholder icons. A normal task can live anywhere you choose.
Can I sync the same folder with Drive and OneDrive?
Pick one sync tool per folder. Running Drive and OneDrive or iCloud on the same path causes conflicts and duplicate files. Exclude system folders and temp extensions.
