Where Does Veeam Agent Store Jobs and Backups?
Where Veeam Agent keeps job configs, backup chains and logs on Windows, and how to migrate jobs by hand.
Last updated
Veeam Agent splits state three ways on Windows. Job definitions export as XML through the Configurator with a default folder under ProgramData. Logs accumulate in a sibling Endpoint tree. Backup chains land on whatever drive the job wizard points at.
There is no fixed drive for chains, which confuses restores when the target letter changed. The VeeamBackup folder name is the default, not a requirement. Note the destination the day the job is created or read it back from the XML. Recovery media points at the same chain folder, so keep its letter stable.

C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Endpoint
Default folder for Configurator XML export and import of jobs and settings. Chains live on the job target drive under VeeamBackup. Logs sit in the sibling Endpoint Logs tree.
Frequently asked questions

Export the job XML through the Configurator on the old machine, then import it on the new one through the same tool. The default XML folder is the Endpoint Configuration tree under ProgramData. Chains travel separately from their target drive.
Where do Veeam Agent backup files actually go?
Open the job wizard and read the Folder field under local storage settings. Chains default to a VeeamBackup subfolder on the chosen drive with full and incremental files inside. Retention defaults to seven days of points.
