Where Does VPN Unlimited Store Settings and Manual Configs?

VPN Unlimited app folders on Windows and Mac, plus where User Office manual configs go.

Last updated

VPN Unlimited (KeepSolid) stores everyday settings inside the app: Menu > Settings > Protocols is where you switch between WireGuard, IKEv2, OpenVPN and KeepSolid Wise. Server favorites, streaming choices and allow lists travel with your KeepSolid ID rather than a folder you can copy.

Manual setups are files again. Anything you generate under User Office > Manual Configurations (a .ovpn file, an IKEv2 profile, a certificate) lands wherever your OS or OpenVPN client expects it. The app itself you treat like any installed program: standalone installer on desktop, App Store sandbox on Mac, TAP adapter in Device Manager on Windows.

Where VPN Unlimited stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files\VPN Unlimited

Standalone install root (Store version lives in the managed WindowsApps area instead). Protocol switches sit in Menu > Settings > Protocols. TAP-Windows adapter issues get fixed in Device Manager by disabling and re-enabling the adapter.

macOS
/Applications/VPN Unlimited.app

App Store and standalone builds share this name. Full removal means deleting the app plus System Settings > VPN > (i) > Remove Configuration, then rebooting. Manual IKEv2 certs install into Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

Frequently asked questions

where do VPN Unlimited manual OpenVPN files go

Generate them in User Office > Manual Configurations for one device slot, then import the .ovpn into your OpenVPN client or copy it to its config folder. Each generated slot counts as one active device, so delete stale devices first.

how do I fully uninstall VPN Unlimited on Mac

Remove the VPN profile in System Settings > VPN first, then delete the app and reboot. Skipping the profile step leaves a dead VPN entry that keeps prompting. Reinstall from the same source (Store or standalone) afterward.
